The truffle has been present in our region (Emilia Romagna) and especially in our hills for some centuries. The truffle is a fungus that grows wild between the roots of certain trees (such as the oak, lime, poplar, willow, hazel nut and pine) and which is found using specially trained dogs that can sense the odour.

The white truffles (Tuber Magnatum) of Emilia Romagna are considered amongst the best in Italy and there has often been a good production (depending on the year).

There are small areas for finding the black truffle and the summer truffle. The March truffle can be found both in the plain and the hills but only from January to March.
